King British Safe Water

King British Safe Water

Safe Water - Removes harmful ammonia & nitrite.

Poor water quality is a major cause of stress in fish and can be fatal. Fish excrete ammonia through their gills and kidneys. Uneaten food & plant debris also decompose, releasing ammonia, which is toxic to fish. Ammonia may be converted into nitrite, which is also toxic and may kill fish if left untreated.

This can be avoided by having a filter installed. As well as physically removing particles from the water the filter also houses nitrifying bacteria, which covert the dangerous ammonia and nitrite into nitrate.

The removal of these substances by bacteria is known as the "Biological Filter", and is essential for a healthy, balanced aquarium.

  • Essential weekly treatment.
  • Contains millions of specially selected live bacteria.
  • For use in tropical, coldwater & marine aquariums.
How Does Safe Water Work

Step 1 - Bacillus bacteria breaks down organic matter on the filter and at the bottom of the aquarium.

Step 2 - Nitrifying bacteria convert ammonia & nitrite to nitrate.

Step 3 - Nitrate is a relatively harmless substance that can be absorbed by plants as food and is easily removed by regular partial water changes.

Different types of nitrifying & Bacillus bacteria are included to maximise performance in all types of water conditions.

Use Safe Water

  • When starting a new aquarium.
  • Once a week to improve water quality and living conditions.
  • To boost filtration after water changes, filter maintenance and the use of treatments & medicines.
  • When adding new fish to your aquarium.
Customers Please Note : The Safe Water is also available packaged for Pond use : but ingredients and dose rates are identical to those for aquarium use, and is perfectly safe to use in aquariums

King British Safe Guard

King British Safe Guard

Safe Guard - Makes Tap Water Safe For Fish

King British Safe Guard makes tap water safe for fish. Safe Guard quickly and effectively neutralises chlorine, chloramines and heavy metals in tap water, preventing distress and gill irritation in fish.

For use in Tropical & Coldwater Aquariums

  • Chlorine and chloramines are powerful chemicals added to drinking water to kill bacteria to make tap water safe for human consumption. Left untreated, these chemicals can strip the protective mucus coating off fish making them susceptible to bacterial and fungal infections.
  • Safe Guard removes the excess ammonia created from the reaction with chloramine.
  • Safe Guard also coats the fish with a natural protective barrier of aloe vera. Fish can lose their protective slime through handling, fighting, shipping and other forms of stress.
Use Safe Guard When

  • Starting a new aquarium.
  • Carrying out water changes or topping up the aquarium with tap water.
  • New fish are introduced, to help soothe & calm them during their acclimatisation.

King British Green Algae Control

King British Green Algae Control

Green Algae Control - Clears Most Forms Of Green Algae

King British Green Algae Control clears most forms of green algae including filaments (fine strands) and slime.

A sparkling clean aquarium can be spoiled by the presence of green algae. Green algae thrives on excess light & surplus nutrients in the water.

When algae takes hold in an aquarium it can cause oxygen to fall to a dangerously low level at night, which can kill fish. During daylight hours, algae produces oxygen through the process of photosynthesis. However, in the dark, algae actually consumes oxygen through respiration. Algae also restricts the growth of oxygenating plants, disturbing the natural balance of the aquarium.

Green algae control clears most forms of green algae inc. surface algae and algae that grows as strands or slime on plants, the side & bottom of the aquarium and on filters, pumps ETC.

Use Algae Control When

  • A green haze is visible on sides of the tank.
  • Green fur growth or slime can be seen on plants, rocks & ornaments.

King British White Spot Control

King British White Spot Control

White Spot Control - Treats Fish With External Parasites

King British White Spot Control is an effective treatment for fish with external parasites including white spot (ich), trichodina and costia.

  • Starts working immediately.
  • Effective treatment.
  • For use in tropical & coldwater aquariums.
White spot is one of the most common parasitic problems affecting fish. It is not visible to the naked eye in its swimming state or on the host fish for the first two days.

It grows rapidly and appears as small pinhead-sized spots on the body & fins.

After 5-7 days the spots break up into smaller parasites and rapidly re-infect the fish. If left untreated, fish quickly become sluggish, their fins will disintegrate and the fish may die.

Care should be taken when diagnosing white spot in clown loach fish, which can show spots resulting from poor water quality. This may not be white spot.

Use White Spot Control

  • If fish appear to have small pinhead-sized white spots on their body & fins.
  • When the fish flick or rub themselves against objects.
  • When fish have rapid gill movement.
  • When new fish are introduced to an aquarium, use as a preventative treatment against white spot & parasites.
