King British Safe Water
This can be avoided by having a filter installed. As well as physically removing particles from the water the filter also houses nitrifying bacteria, which covert the dangerous ammonia and nitrite into nitrate.
The removal of these substances by bacteria is known as the "Biological Filter", and is essential for a healthy, balanced aquarium.
- Essential weekly treatment.
- Contains millions of specially selected live bacteria.
- For use in tropical, coldwater & marine aquariums.
Step 2 - Nitrifying bacteria convert ammonia & nitrite to nitrate.
Step 3 - Nitrate is a relatively harmless substance that can be absorbed by plants as food and is easily removed by regular partial water changes.
- When starting a new aquarium.
- Once a week to improve water quality and living conditions.
- To boost filtration after water changes, filter maintenance and the use of treatments & medicines.
- When adding new fish to your aquarium.
King British Safe Guard
- Chlorine and chloramines are powerful chemicals added to drinking water to kill bacteria to make tap water safe for human consumption. Left untreated, these chemicals can strip the protective mucus coating off fish making them susceptible to bacterial and fungal infections.
- Safe Guard removes the excess ammonia created from the reaction with chloramine.
- Safe Guard also coats the fish with a natural protective barrier of aloe vera. Fish can lose their protective slime through handling, fighting, shipping and other forms of stress.
- Starting a new aquarium.
- Carrying out water changes or topping up the aquarium with tap water.
- New fish are introduced, to help soothe & calm them during their acclimatisation.

King British Green Algae Control
A sparkling clean aquarium can be spoiled by the presence of green algae. Green algae thrives on excess light & surplus nutrients in the water.
When algae takes hold in an aquarium it can cause oxygen to fall to a dangerously low level at night, which can kill fish. During daylight hours, algae produces oxygen through the process of photosynthesis. However, in the dark, algae actually consumes oxygen through respiration. Algae also restricts the growth of oxygenating plants, disturbing the natural balance of the aquarium.
Green algae control clears most forms of green algae inc. surface algae and algae that grows as strands or slime on plants, the side & bottom of the aquarium and on filters, pumps ETC.
- A green haze is visible on sides of the tank.
- Green fur growth or slime can be seen on plants, rocks & ornaments.

After 5-7 days the spots break up into smaller parasites and rapidly re-infect the fish. If left untreated, fish quickly become sluggish, their fins will disintegrate and the fish may die.
Care should be taken when diagnosing white spot in clown loach fish, which can show spots resulting from poor water quality. This may not be white spot.
- If fish appear to have small pinhead-sized white spots on their body & fins.
- When the fish flick or rub themselves against objects.
- When fish have rapid gill movement.
- When new fish are introduced to an aquarium, use as a preventative treatment against white spot & parasites.
