TetraTest Water Test Kits
Every TetraTest kit is complete with easy to follow instructions and advice and guidelines on the action to take after testing.
There are TetraTest kits for all your needs and they can be purchased individually or combined in the TetraTest Laborett
TetraTest Ammonia
Ammonia toxicity is highly dependent on aquarium pH as it is readily converted to the less-toxic ammonium ion (NH4+) as pH decreases.
At pH levels above 7.0, increasing levels of toxic ammonia exist.
At pH levels below 7.0, ammonia begins to exist mostly as ammonium ion.
Levels of total ammonia (NH3 + NH4+) of only 0.25 mg per liter of water can be harmful to your fish and other aquarium inhabitants.
The Tetratest Total Ammonia kit was professionally developed to accurately determine the ammonia level in your aquarium water.
To ensure optimum water quality, frequent testing is strongly recommended - even more frequently when your aquarium is first established.
The kit contains one 6-ml test reagent #1
one 10-ml test reagent #2
one 17-ml test reagent #3
a test vial
color scale
instructions and recommendations and 25 tests.
Notes:
Tetratest Total Ammonia kit is safe and accurate to use with other chemical products that remove or reduce ammonia from the aquarium and which can cause interference with less-expensive single reagent test methods
TetraTest Ammonia Kit £12.99
TetraTest Nitrite
Nitrite is toxic to fish life, and is further decomposed to nitrate, but interruptions or inefficiencies in filtration can lead to its accumulation.
Nitrite concentrations as low as 1.6 mg per liter of water can adversely affect your fish, and in severe cases is fatal.
Regular testing for nitrite will ensure optimum water quality and verify filter performance.
The Tetratest Nitrite (NO2-) kit includes
two 10-ml test reagents (#1 & #2)
test vial
color scale
instructions and recommendations and 45 tests.
TetraTest Nitrate
It can also be present in tap water supplies, especially in areas of high fertilizer run-off.
Although virtually non-toxic to fish, nitrate is a key algae nutrient and high concentrations can interfere with osmoregulation (the process by which fish exchange salts and other chemicals through the gills with the outside environment).
Nitrate can be more toxic and irritating to saltwater invertebrates and should be monitored more closely.
Nitrate testing is also an indicator of general water quality and filter function; as biological filtration converts ammonia, to nitrite and finally to nitrate, other import chemical changes take place in the aquarium simultaneously such as loss of alkalinity (buffering capacity) or the accumulation of phosphate - thus nitrate testing can indicate possible imbalances in other areas without directly testing each one.
TetraTest Nitrate Kit T616 £13.55
TetraTest Oxygen
Low oxygen concentrations can cause fish to be increasingly susceptible to disease and cause biological filtration bacteria to work inefficiently.
The oxygen concentration in the water of your aquarium or pond is dependent on a number of factors including; temperature (oxygen concentration decreases as temperature increases especially above 80¦F), with overstocking conditions, with heavy amounts of decaying organic matter, and with poor circulation or surface films that interfere with natural gas exchange.
Additionally, live plants which use carbon dioxide for photosynthesis during light-hours change over to oxygen respiration at night and actually add to oxygen demand.
The Tetratest O2 was professionally developed to accurately determine the oxygen level of your aquarium water.
To ensure optimum water quality, frequent testing is recommended.
The kit contains
two 9-ml test reagents (#1 and #2)
one 10-ml test reagent
a test vial
color scale
instructions and recommendations and 30 tests.
TetraTest Oxygen Kit £12.75
TetraTest Tropical pH
A pH value of 6.5 to 8.0 will suit most species of freshwater aquarium fish.
Sudden or significant pH change can occur when tap water is added to your aquarium, therefore it is advisable to check both aquarium and tap water pH before adding water to your aquarium.
The TetraTest pH Kit was professionally developed to accurately determine the pH level in your freshwater aquarium.
To ensure optimum water quality, frequent testing is recommended.
The kit contains
one 10-ml test reagent
a test vial
color scale
instructions and recommendations and 59 tests.
Tetra Marine Test 5in1
This makes testing the water in a marine aquarium very important, to ensure problems are corrected before they can cause harm.
However, having to test regularly for a range of parameters can be costly and time consuming, and isn't always practical. Therefore Tetra has developed the Tetra Marine Test 5in1, which checks five water quality parameters in 60 seconds.
- Checks 5 key parameters in 60 seconds - Calcium, pH, KH, Nitrite, and Nitrate.
- Exclusive to Tetra - The only dip test to have a Calcium Test.
- Ideal for checking the health of marine aquariums.
- Helps to encourage regular testing.
- Great Value - each pack contains 25 strips, each testing 5 parameters. That’s 125 individual tests!
- Instruction leaflet.

TetraTest Marine pH
It is important to monitor the pH of your aquarium water because all forms of life, from fish and plants to algae and filter bacteria can show adverse reactions if kept outside their preferred pH range, or if subject to sudden changes in the pH value.
In natural marine conditions the buffering action of bicarbonates and carbonates maintains the pH at a very constant value of 8.2-8.4.
This value should be replicated in your marine aquarium.
The TetraTest pH kit was professionally developed to accurately determine the pH level in your aquarium water. To ensure optimum water quality, frequent testing is recommended.
The kit contains
one 10-ml test reagent
test vial
color scale
instructions and recommendations and 50 tests
TetraTest Marine pH £7.89
TetraTest GH
The general hardness of your water has a direct influence on the regulatory functions of fish (fish skin, gills, and eggs), plants and microorganisms.
A favorable GH value for most ornamental fish between 6 and 16 dH (degrees of German hardness).
Often forgotten or lost in significance to testing pH, ammonia, and nitrite, General Hardness is vital to selecting fish suitable to local water supplies or testing the performance of advanced filtration methods including reverse osmosis or deionization.
This kit contains
one 10-ml test reagent
a test vial
instructions and recommendations
TetraTest GH £7.89
Tetra WaterTest Set
pH is a measure of how acidic the water is, KH (carbonate hardness) reflects the ability of the water to maintain a stable pH, GH (general hardness) reflects the total mineral content of the water, nitrite is toxic to fish and indicates how well the filter is working, and carbon dioxide levels are improtant for healthy plant growth.
